Australian Gymnastics Championships

 Next week will signal the start of the 2018 Australian Gymnastics Championships at which ACT will have a strong representation across Women’s and Men’s Artistic, Rhythmic and Trampoline.

The competition takes place over two weeks, with top gymnasts from each state and territory competing for the title of 2018 Australian Champion. With over 1,400 athletes competing, it is sure to be an exciting and action packed event. Five Gymsports will be on show, including disciplines of Women’s and Men’s Artistic, Rhythmic, Trampoline and Acrobatic Gymnastics.

In 2018 ACT will have 70 athletes competing for medals across the two weeks at Hisense Arena.  Full schedule can be found here;

The flag bearer for the opening ceremony on Monday 21 May will be Rebecca Rainey from Woden Valley Gymnastics Club.

In 2017 Rebecca was a part of the ACT Level 8 Team who won Bronze at the Australian Gymnastics Championships. Rebecca was the Gold Medalist on Beam for Level 8 and also finished 2nd on Floor.

In 2018 Rebecca will be looking for her third consecutive Gold on Beam having also won gold in 2016 at Level 7 whilst placing 3rd Overall as part of the Bronze medal winning ACT team

Good luck to all of our Gymnasts as they look to do the ACT and their clubs proud!
