The 2017 MAG Junior State Championships (Level 1-5) was the final event in a series of 3 competitions. The event was well attended with over 100 boys participating across 7 divisions. There were many great performances and many smiles as the boys collected participation medals in levels 1, 2 and 3 and placing awards in levels 4 and 5.
Team Awards saw Southern Canberra Gymnastics Club taking the top awards in level 1 and level 3 and Canberra City Gymnastics Club taking the top team awards in level 2. The perpetual Wade/Graham Shield award (Combined Level 4 and 5) was awarded to Canberra City Gymnastics Club, who has now won this shield for the last 3 years.
There were great performances from many boys, but the best performance was by Riley Hardy from Canberra City Gymnastics level 4 under-9 team. His overall score of 59.682 from a maximum 63 was amazing.
Congratulations to all the boys, for many this was their first year of competitions.
GACT MAG Technical Director, Tony Falzarano, was pleased with the event organisation. Even a false fire alarm which saw the 1st session halted until the Fire Brigade turned up to deactivate the alarm did not affect the timing of the event. The acquisition of a new scoring system and laptops for judges to enter scores at their panels helped immensely with the smooth running of the event.
Coaches, judges and all the public enjoyed the event.
