Weekend Wrap

In what was a bumper weekend of gymnastics that saw Australia represented in finals in three different gymsports.

In Stuttgart, Germany, our Women’s Artistic gymnasts competed at the DTB Pokal Team Challenge. This unique team format competition sees three or four athletes from each country compete on each apparatus, with the top three scores considered for the overall team total. 

A big congratulations to our Junior and Senior Teams who took our Silver and Bronze respectively in the Team competition.

Advancing to the Individual Apparatus finals was Juniors Ruby Pass who claimed gold with a score of 13.266 on Beam and a silver on Vault, Miella Brown claimed gold on Uneven Bars with a score of 13.066 and Charlotte Shin who came 6th on Floor with a score of 10.933

Our Senior Emily Whitehead claimed Bronze with a score of 13.000 on Floor and Romi Brown claiming silver on Uneven Bars with a score of 13.700.

The double delight of Artistic Gymnastics moved to Cairo, where Mitch Morgans and James Bacueti took their recent form into the third leg of the World Cup Series finishing 8th and 6th on Parallel Bars and Vault finals respectively. The duo will now round out their series at the fourth and final leg in Baku from 31st March – 3rd April.

For the first time in Australia's history, Australia had a rhythmic gymnast advance through to a final in a World Cup series event. With a score of 27.250 Lidiia Iakovleva qualified for the Ribbon Final. Debuting a new routine, Iakovleva finished her competition with a score of 25.900 finishing in 7th place.
