WAG Team Spirit and MAG 7-10 Post Event Wrap-up




The first Artistic Gymnastics event for 2022 was held at the Optus State Gymnastics Centre in Kingston on Sunday 6 March. Hosted by Kingborough Gymsports, 66 MAG and WAG competitors participated in the event which was also the first qualifying competition for the Australian Gymnastics Championships to be held on the Gold Coast in May.

The WAG SNR Team Spirit event showcased our top gymnasts in the State, and also encouraged team spirit throughout the event, culminating in the awarding of certificates for cheering, best chant and best banner. 

Kingborough Gymsports cheering dominated the event with the team taking out the Best Cheering Award across all levels, while the Clarence Gymsports Team showed their team spirit with the Best Banner Award. 

Devonport Gymnastics Club showed the most vocal supporting, taking out the Best Chant Award.

The WAG Teams event had teams competing across Level 7, 8 & 9 with some clubs combing to enter mixed teams.

Results for the Level 7 Women Team Awards:
1st – Kingborough Gymsports Red
2nd – Clarence Gymsports
3rd – Devonport Gymnastics Club

Level 8 Women Team Awards:
1st – Kingborough Gymsports/Clarence Gymsports
2nd -  Devonport Gymnastics Club
3rd – Zodiacs Gymnastics Club/Hobart Gymnastics Academy

Level 9 Womens Team Awards:
1st – Kingborough Gymsports/Clarence Gymsports

The MAG level 7-10 event showcased our men’s talent in Level 7 Open, Level 8 Open and Level 9 Open events. Spectators were treated to events on the floor, pommel horse, high bar, rings, vault and parallel bars as the men build towards improving their skills heading into the Australian Gymnastics Championships. 

Awards were presented in the men’s events for overall position only:
Level 7 Open – Jude Coburn
Level 8 Open – Riley Fenn
Level 9 Open – Ethan Loring

The same weekend we held the our second Trampoline Interclub #2 and Qualifier #4 at Launceston PCYC . Athletes from five (5) clubs Kingborough Gymsports, Launceston PCYC, Hobart Gymnastics Academy, Hobart PCYC and the newcomers Devonport Gymnastics Club represented their clubs on the day.  All scores can be found on Sporttech.io
